Three subject matters and unrelated quotes and observations from today Tuesday January 18, 2010.
The first points out where a liberal writer acknowledges that Obama has followed the Bush WOT policies without change. The blogger points out that this means all that hope and change stuff was what you knew it was: a pile of crap intended to deceive stupid voters. Yet, no one on the left wants to call Obama on it.
The second corrects a history professor’s remembrance of the McCarthy hearings. Anyone who has read about the McCarthy charges and the subsequent hearings knows the following two things. First, McCarthy was right. There were communist supporters and current and former members of the communist party at the highest levels of the US government. Second, the common narrative about McCarthy’s charges, his evidence and the hearings is inaccurate. Yet, these two facts are obscured over and over. Heck, I knew it was wrong a hundred years ago at University, but even then the professors and the students on the “right” side painted McCarthy as deranged, sick, and so forth. Charges which may be accurate given his alcoholism, but do not detract from the accuracy of his basic charge.
The third is quote from A Sullivan about how he intends to more civilly write about Sarah Palin despite questions about the provenance of her Downs Baby and amazement at how an advanced democracy could consider electing her President. Which is like saying you are stupid, but I will say it with a smile.
The lack of civility, honesty and honor among the left is bottomless. One hears a statement and thinks, they can’t go any further. Yet, they do.
You know why that is, but you try to avoid admitting why. I do, but ultimately one must acknowledge the truth and this is it. The left in the US are cut from the same fabric as the Nazis in Germany who killed the Jews. The communists in Russia who enslaved a nation of 200m plus for 80 years or so or the fascists who enslave it now. They are the fascists of Argentina who completely destroyed a country that once had the third highest standard of living in the world. They are the Khmer Rouge who killed millions. Oh, the leftists in the US are of a higher quality cloth than the examples I cite, but it is the same fabric. Lie about your opponents, destroy the currency, nationalize private property, take away freedoms, and kill the innocent. Yes, it is the same fabric, just better dressed, more pampered, more articulate, but it is the same. In the US, like the other instances named, the good people, those that tell the truth, that love their neighbors, that pay their taxes, that raise families, that run business, that go to work each day wanting to do the right thing, that go to church oh we are too busy to pay attention to the lies and deceptions. Sure we call them out from time to time, but there are so many lies and we have taxes to pay, businesses to run, families to raise, churches to attend, we can’t catch them all. So day by day, the left, the liars, the evil ones, get a convert here and one there. Drip, drip, drip and suddenly we notice the Rock of the Constitution, the Rock of our institutions, the Rock of our legal system, are smaller, not as important. Drip, drip, drip. It never ends and never will. Men without honor cannot stand those that have it. They are shamed by the sight of honor so they must destroy those that have it.
If this Republic is to survive, things are going to get really dark and bloody around here before this is over.
