Oh my goodness. Trailing 18 at halftime, the boys in blue rallied to beat 10th ranked USC and a Steve Spurrier coached team for the first time ever.
We were lucky for sure, but this team deserved some luck after the past two weeks. (Cam Newton is great, but trip over a yard line once in a while or make some sort of mistake. BTW, he doesn’t remind me of Tebow. He reminds me of Derrick Ramsey, but able to throw the ball much better.)
One comment. Suprrier’s decision to go for the win was absolutely the right decision. There were four possible outcomes. A sack, which was not going to happen. A touchdown, which I felt likely. An incompletion which would have left time for the field goal attempt. An interception, which is what, happened. Suprrier, like the old QB he is, put ball in the hand of his QB and said, make a smart decision. Garcia didn’t, but it was close.
As I see it, UK just doesn’t have enough talent on defense. They play hard and are well coached, but they just don’t make enough plays simply because they aren’t talented enough. So the question is, are young men around the South and Midwest looking at those beautiful blue uniforms, that beautiful stadium, that wonderful crowd, those wonderful coaches and thinking, Man, I can make an impact there next year. Or are they thinking, oh, I want to sit on the bench at Bama or VT or OSU next year and maybe the three years after that because I like sitting on the bench more than playing. We shall see, but while Brooks created a good program, like so many times before, the Cats are close to having a really good team. Maybe this time Joker gets us there.
Isn’t it nice to have a man from the Dark and Bloody Ground coaching our team?
